Man Utd Lunchtime Round-Up, Thursday 29th October 2026: Carrick Faces the Press Amid Neville Sacking Talk
Michael Carrick is set to front up to the media today ahead of Saturday's lunchtime trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea, with team news and the latest on Bruno Fernandes talks expected to be covered (Manchester Evening News).
It comes at an uneasy time for the head coach, with Gary Neville suggesting that sometimes managers need to be sacked "for their own good" as United continue to stick with Carrick despite the pressure he's under (BBC Sport). Neville has also been vocal on the ownership situation, with the Glazer family reportedly handed an immediate takeover instruction after fresh details emerged regarding Ineos (Manchester Evening News).
On a brighter note, the academy continues to catch the eye, with this week's Manchester United Academy Notebook highlighting Kai Rooney's rise through the youth ranks over the past 18 months, along with a link to JJ Gabriel (Manchester Evening News).
